We've been spoiled here in the Bay Area with beautiful January weather! Thank goodness....so I could have sessions like this! It was a beautiful day. Thanks to this sweet family for a lovely session. I LOVE these two of Ian and Kennedy....I couldn't decide which one I liked more, so I chose both of these:)

So this little family is the cutest ever. Mama Katie emailed me a while ago to book a session and I realized it's the same Katie that I grew up with! We hung out when we were like thirteen together! Needless to say, it was amazing seeing her after all these years and meeting her hubby Ian and gorgeous Kennedy. Katie is super smart, a fabulous decorator and an amazing mom. I love being with people that inspire me...And I'm thankful that my clients do that for me! And...it turns out I went to high school with Ian for a year! Small world and I love it. I had the best time with them and I'm so grateful to reconnect with an old friend. Katie, you are beautiful and a rockstar homemaker. I love your family and can't wait to hang out again!

I had such a great time with this awesome couple! I haven't done an engagement session in so long and it was so nice and refreshing to see two people madly in love! I had a crazy fun time at this session. First of all, thank goodness I am good friends with this family...because of course on the day I have a session, my hubby was running late from work so I carted my 3 kids along for the ride. I piled the kids in the car, pull out of the drive way and notice that the car is tilted to the side and driving funny. I hop out, notice we have a flat tire! I quickly called my hubby to tell me how to take care of this situation and then we were on our way! Thankfully I was only a couple of minutes late and my kids were wonderful during the session!! This was a special grandma and grandkids session. It was fun, energetic, crazy, and quick! The kids were great and it was all around a fun time! I love these shots and love this family:) Thanks guys for helping me with my kiddos and being so patient with all of my craziness!!

Hello friends! How's your holiday season going? As I wrap up the year I reflect on all of the awesome people I've gotten to know during our sessions together and I'm so thankful for what I do! Thanks to ALL of the amazing clients of 2011. You've been a blessing in my life:)

This little peach was a whopping 6 lb. 12 oz when she was born and 10 days old when I got to photograph her! She was so cute and good during our session together. These kids had so much energy! It was awesome! We went downtown Pleasanton and walked around. I loved this brick wall and we even had a little rain. Towards the end, candy corn saved the day...thanks to some very prepared parents:) I had such a great time with this family! And I have to give a big thank you for Bryan for sharing his talents with our family and giving me such a precious gift of capturing my young family! We did a trade and he filmed my little Felicity and our family when she was only 5 days old. I am in love with this video:) He is a very talented videographer! You should seriously use him to remember those unforgettable moments life brings! You can find him here.

I LOVE babies tiny little parts...Something about those little hands and feet that just make me happy!

I LOVE my newborns. I pretty much can't say that enough. I am so blessed to do what I love and to hold these little miracles is icing on the cake. These tender little heavenly beings are so much fun to mold and cuddle. Capturing all of their little parts and the essence of who they are is just simply a blessing! I'm so lucky and honored!

I know I'm partial to the name Hudson, but isn't he a cutie?! This session with smooth and we got some beautiful shots. Congrats to this little family and that hair is oh-so-cute!

This girl is so beautiful! The camera loves her:) So this was a bittersweet session for me. It was my last one before maternity leave. It was ironic that it was a maternity session and she's due only 6 weeks after me! It was fun talking and hanging with someone who knows what I'm going through and it's also number 3 for both of us! These little men were a pure delight. With a limited time to photograph them (due to a babysitting time crunch), I was quite stressed about getting them sleepy and getting all of the shots that I wanted to do...not to mention that there were two of them and not just one! But they proved me wrong and sleep like little angels and were both so beautiful the whole session. And a huge thanks to their sweet mom and dad for amazing prep work, with bathtime and great feedings before hand...that really made a difference! I had such a great time during this session and can't wait to post more of these handsome guys when I get back from Utah:)

I am having so much fun with my black and white conversions (although I had to add a couple in color:). I love the contrast that they have and I love the purity that it brings to the photograph...appropriate for the subject matter, don't you think?!

This sweet little man gave me some beautiful shots! I think these have been my favorite "tiny part" pictures so far...Capturing those little features is so fun! These two little sweethearts were so much fun! Amanda was kick to photograph and knew just how to "work it"! She had so much personality and spunk. I had to do this little series! I love all of the cute expressions that babies make!

I love when I have a session where I just have little ah-ha moments. Not get me wrong, I love and learn from EVERY session I have, but there are certain ones that just move me. I love those moments when I figure out a new angle, or when the light is just picture perfect (excuse the pun!). I have to admit that I've been feeling a little bit uninspired with my photography work lately. And I've had a little lull with my sessions, which has been needed because I've been able to spend some really needed quality time with my family. In the mean time, I've been doing a little soul searching and brainstorming and I've purchased a few small items that I feel like will really help boost my inspiration, work and style. I've been really wanting a clean pure look with my work...And I'm so glad I did, because I had a fabulous session yesterday with a little that I will never forget!

Olivia is 6 months old. I'm pretty sure that this is my second favorite age to photograph. Besides my newborns, the 6-9 month age is so great because they make the best eye contact and are sitting but not quite crawling yet...They are just perfect little subjects! And Miss Olivia fit the mold beautifully! She was a little dream and I had so much fun playing with her. I had so many little ah-ha moments and feel like it's my best work yet. I hope you enjoy my new little friend:) Thanks Kristen for producing such a delicious little baby for me to photograph:)

Wow! What a year so far. I have completely neglected this poor blog...but let's face it, sometimes we just need a break from time to time! I have gladly been focusing on my beautiful family and home and am very proud to announce that we have an addition coming into the family in July! We couldn't be happier and are loving thinking of all kinds of names...It's amazing how opinionated my little four year is on what she likes and doesn't like as far as names go:) Here's my munchkin at four at her bday party in November. I am most inspired by real life raw unplanned/semi planned moments. Granted I did ask her to come outside with me so I could take pictures of her, but I love her random expressions and her little (okay big!) personality shine through! (And I LOVE these in black and white!)

I would be ungrateful if I didn't take a moment to thank all of my clients of 2010. It has been a wonderful year that went far beyond my expectations! And a special thank you to all of my new mommies and newborns who were trusting enough to let me photograph such a perfect moment in life. I know I've said it before, but I just can't say it enough....I.LOVE.MY.NEWBORNS!!! I was looking over all of the sweet babies that I had a pleasure to cuddle and hold this year and we reached the 20 mark....20 babies to love and hold...sigh.

Love this family. It was raining ALL DAY and I was totally freaking out, praying that it would stop long enough to give us a break for some beautiful pictures! Thankfully this wonderful family lives literally across the street from a beautiful golf course. We waited inside until it stopped raining and then ran across the street for some pics. I had fun meeting Ashley's family and it was a honor to document such an important time in Adrianna's young life!

My first set of twins went better than I expected! I was so happy with these little ones. These miracle babies were born 2 months early and were in the NICU for over a month. Now at a little over 3 months old, they are healthy and strong! I was so excited to meet this little beauty! She's less than three days old here! Can you believe that?! I had such a great time with her mommy and daddy and I didn't want it to end:) She was so good for being so young. For first time parents, Ashley and Scott were so calm and relaxed! This family is quite ambitious, their little one was born last Monday, following which Ashley was IN a wedding on Saturday and they moved to Las Vegas the very next day! I hope you guys survived such an incredibly busy week. In my book, having a baby is quite enough for one week, but you guys rocked it! She recently came back from Africa after studying at BYU for two years and now is off to Arizona to serve for a year and a half! I admire her dedication and modivation for life! Not only is she simply beautiful, but I have known her family since I was a little kid and it was so much fun hanging out for the evening. Have a great time Brooke...you're going to rock:)

this little beauty was wonderful. It was so great to finally meet her. She is extra special to her mommy and daddy because she is the first out of her siblings to come all by herself. Cambria has two older sets of twin sisters. Five girls in all! Their parents adore their girls and were so excited to welcome Miss Cam-Cam to the family! I had a great session that ran so smoothly..it made me want to shoot newborns all day long! Thankfully, little Miss's mama and I have very similar tastes in style and color, so the fabric blankets are hers and I'm so glad she brought them! I can't believe it's September! This year has gone by so fast for me. So many experiences this year, so many emotions, so much growing...I'm happy with it all so far:) Fall is around the corner, holidays are going to be fast approaching, and time seems to be speeding up! Even with all of the craziness, I love this fun and family time season. Since life gets a little busier this time of year, I have limited time slots for sessions. I have decided to take the month of December off to solely focus on my family and indulge in the time of the season! So with that said, book your fall seasons ASAP to make sure you get a spot before the holidays come! Especially since they tend to creep up much faster than we plan.

I have also updated my prices affective today September 1st. With my busy life...my growing bussiness and my little family, my time is extremely precious. I really tried to reflect my prices to the many many hours of labor and love I give to each of my clients. You can see the new prices here. I am also going to finally have a website up here pretty soon, so come back soon to check it out:)

I can't leave without saying thank you for everyone that has supported me in my quest for inspiring and making people happy through my photographs. Gratitude is such an important aspect if life and I firmly believe that you have to give thanks to receive those amazing blessings we all want and need! I've had an overwhelming response in booking sessions and complients in my work. It is because of you that I am where I am. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I take my work so seriously and really try my best to give my very greatest work to each and every client. I hope you know that I couldn't have done it without you..and you...and you:) Thank you!!

So I can't post without sharing a few of this little family. I LOVE these people and have known them forever. It's so fun to watch people grow and become great people. Meghan + Justin: One Year Anniversary

I was so excited for this session because I was taking pictures at their one year anniversary mark. What a great idea! I think when people think of "family pictures", we think we have to have kids in order to get them, but why not remembering what's like before children?! I wish my hubby and I had pictures for our one year mark...that would have been fun to look back on. I had such a great time with Meghan and Justin. There were hilarious, relaxed and I could just feel how much they loved each other. It was a pleasure spending the evening with them and I LOVE the location they chose. I'd never been there for a session, but I'm so thankful that fate stepped in...we were able to capture so many great shots!

love this little girl. I had the privilage of taking her pictures when she was a newborn. You can see them here and here. Now miss Avonlea is 4 months old and it's amazing how fast they grow. Big sister Bella came along for some sister pictures too. Man, what a gorgeous girl! It was such a fun session sitting under a shady tree on a nice warm sunny day with these lovely girls. The business of the season is upon me...and I love it! I did a session with this great family last weekend. I go to church with them and so it was nice knowing a little about them before their session:) Kirsten, the oldest is headed off to Southern State University and her mom wanted family pics before the big move. My beautiful sister and her husband moved to Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago and before she left we decided to do a little photo shoot of her and my kiddies. We went to a park near her house and had so much fun rolling around in the grass and playing! I had so much fun at this session. This lovely lady is one of my dear friends that I look up to and admire. Being able to take pictures of her cute little, and I mean little, baby bump was such a blessing because I'm honored to be a part of such a fun time in her life! I truly feel that way about all of my pregnant mamas. :)

The lighting was beautiful, their outfits were perfect and the weather was amazing. I found a new spot that I really liked and the stars were in a line! I love being around Kelli...I want to be a better person when I'm with her and I LOVE how these pictures turned out. I really tried to convey her kind, soft, and sweet personality in each one of these! Thanks Kelli for a fun adventure:) We were worried we might not be able to do them since she had been contracting for a while, but thankfully everything worked out....and I can't wait to meet your little one:)

We only had one little hiccup. When we were doing a clothing change at the car in the middle of the session, we made the mistake of leaving my camera bag and a bag of her accessories on the trail where we were...When we were walking back to our stuff, a group of teenagers, guys and girls, were vandalizing our stuff! I couldn't believe it...I started running towards them yelling at them to get away. They were throwing things and trying to break stuff and then they started running when I got a little closer. Thankfully, they hadn't gotten to my camera bag, which had a len and my wallet...I'm such an idiot!...but they got to Kelli's bag. Thankfully nothing was stolen and only a little hand mirror was broken. I couldn't believe it...we were so shooken up. I'm so glad that nothing was missing or damaged....I definitely learned my lesson to always keep everything with me at all times, I just get too trusting sometimes...It makes me sad that I have to worry so now. Even with the drama, we were still able to put our game (photo) faces on and get some amazing shots!

This last one is right after we got vandalized by those stinky teenagers:(

This little doll baby was happy and calm asleep and awake! I was supposed to photograph this beauty at 7 days, but something unexpected happened and I had to reschedule a couple weeks later. I was a little nervous that she wouldn't be as sleepy and moldable, but she proved me wrong. Even at 3 weeks, she was a perfect angel for me! Thank goodness for beautiful happy babies to keep me happy and going! :) I had so much fun with you Brooke and your little Sadie is precious!

Brooke, Sadie's mommy, really wanted to try some watermelon pictures that she saw somewhere. And I'm so glad that she suggested doing something so different because Miss Sadie rocked it and I LOVE how this pic turned out! I'll be posting a couple more of these fun shots soon!

the husband glow

So I've seen the pregnancy glow many times. You know, the calm face of a happy pregnant lady, although uncomfortable, still in wonder and awe that her body could create such a miracle. What I've never really seen before is what I like to affectionately call the "husband glow". Mr. Jeff most definitely had that. The whole session, his eyes were glued to her and you could see the love and tenderness he has for his cute adorable oh-so-pregnant wife! I seriously wanted to cry happy tears for how much he so easily and effortlessly expressed his love for his wife and little one. I had several moments where I had to stop and smile, because they were so gosh darn cute together! I had so much fun during this session. Everything just fell into place..the location, their great outfits, and the looks they gave each other and me! Thanks guys for a lovely afternoon! And I'm so happy for you upcoming little one! Boy was it a chilly day for this family. We found the perfect spot and the weather decided to be crazy. It was windy, and one minute it was sunny and then cloudy! It was a crazy blustery day, but we had fun and got some great shots! Hope you like them Tara...your girls are cuties :)

This little one did.not.want.to.sleep...even in a room that was 80 degrees with a space heater blowing calmly on her, she was determined to be a part of the action! She was so sweet and definitely had her own agenda. Mama Kerry looked amazing as usual and it was fun to see what we could do with baby Gwyn. Hope you like them Kerry...I did have a lot of fun despite our subborn little girl! :) You'll notice that she is swaddled for all of the pics...she did not want to be naked, so we just went with the swaddled look...which working out just fine...I LOVE swaddled babies! It just goes to show you that those babies have personalities from the very beginning:)

Photo Challenge: Light

I had an ah-ha moment last week...a moment of sheer bliss. I had just finished an amazing photo shoot and was on the quest for finding newborn props for my upcoming sessions. During the search for great items at my father-in-law's barn no less, the light was almost to dust in the sky and I HAD to pull my camera out. There are so many discoveries you make as a photographer...Things you normally wouldn't notice, are now all of the sudden in the forefront. I love that. The world observed a little differently. Lately, I've been obsessed with wild mustand flowers. They're so pretty and seem to be everywhere this time of year! I don't even know how I have never seemed to notice them before! Where have you been my whole life?! I love these pics...the yellow combined with the lighting creates a little piece of happiness! sigh..

Any who, light combined with exposure is one of those things that has to be practiced constantly...there are so many things to think about when shooting in light. Where is the light in the sky? Do I have back light, side light, front light...? My most favorite is back and side lighting, there are so many layers and stories that can be told with light. Here is these photos I was playing around with back light and a couple with side light. I love back light because it gives that creamy layer of heaven in between the camera and the subject....it's almost magical!

I *heart* this picture. Don't you want to run and lay down in this field. Oh pure joy!

My little T is so silly, this is the closest thing to a smile I am going to get, and I love that about her!

I love this second pic...they are a little out of focus because the sun was so bright...but I love that. I love the sun spots and the back light, can't it be summer all year long?! It makes it just a littler more intriguing. Pictures like this make me happy!

I am so thankful to be friends with the talented Brooke. She is so inspiring and lives life to the fullest. I'm so happy to say that she and her hubby are about to make an addition to their family! It was so fun to collaborate ideas for this shoot. We found this lovely winery with this old empty Victorian home on it! It was a perfect place for pics and the weather thankfully was great...a good cloudy day and barely rained just as we finished! With props, lots of ideas and some adorable outfits, we had a blast...and I hope, hope, hope that you love them as much as I do Brookie! Thanks for a wonderful day!

I first of all have to thank all of the friends and family that have given me so much support this past year. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many uplifting and wonderful people who believe in me and my passion for photography! I have the best clients and want you all to know how much I've enjoyed working with each one of you!

I'm so excited for a new year (even though it's already February:) ) and for all of the fun we are going to have this year. A new year means new locations, lots of new babies, *hint - hint*....my favorite :) and lots of new ideas to try. I can't wait for what the future has in store and am so blessed to be able to pursue what I love so much!

It seems like I've been only photographying baby boys, so it was so fun to meet and spend time with this little cutie.
